Your first visit
Prior evaluation

On your first visit, the orthodontist will carry out a prior evaluation of the condition of your teeth and mouth in general, together with a clinical examination, and at least two x-rays in order to perform a radiographical study of the mouth in general (Panoramic Radiography) with which to check the roots of the teeth and molars, their length, shape and position in relation to the adjacent bones in order to confirm that it is possible to achieve the dental movement that the treatment requires.

“We will carry out skeletal, dental and facial diagnosis, so that once we have detected the problems, we can make a list of them and propose a treatment plan and be able to predict the results”

Another Profile Teleradiography in order to carry out a cephalometric analysis, in other words taking the measurements of the bones in which the teeth and molars are lodged to check if there is a correspondence in size between the two and thereby ensure they coincide in the correct bite.

Some models or “plaster moulds” of the mouth and teeth of the patient are taken.   In order to have to hand, and check, the shape and size of the teeth, the bite, relation of the upper teeth to the lower teeth, measure the spaces necessary to relocate them or the spaces left over.  All this is very difficult to see in the mouth itself.

Finally, a series of facial and dental photographs will be taken to help us keep the 1st visit fresh and remind us of the facial and dental aspect at that time and how it has evolved.

With all these records it is possible to make a “skeletal, dental and facial diagnosis, so that once the problems have been detected, we can make a list of them and propose a treatment plan and be able to predict the results.”
